Have you read this quote before, somewhere online, or perhaps spoken out loud?
“A beautiful day begins with a beautiful mindset” is a quote that sounds abstract at first.
What exactly does this saying mean?
Is it all fluff?
It sounds pretty, but… what actual intent is behind these 8 words? And what are some examples of a beautiful mindset?
Let’s talk about what a beautiful mindset is, how to have one, and how a beautiful mindset will help create a beautiful day!

I came across this quote a few years ago and included it in a blog post about inspirational quotes.
It was widely shared on Pinterest, which was interesting to see. What about this quote did people love so much? What made them share it so widely? And where did the quote come from, anyway?
As it turns out, the quote originates from the book The Angel Effect written by author John Geiger. A book to put on your reading list for sure.
Original meaning of the quote
Geiger’s meaning for this quote was to inspire people to think of the privilege it is to be alive each day. He says we should focus on the good, ignore our worries, and have gratitude for the good in our lives. He says this mindset will create more positivity in your life.
I totally agree. And I’m going to throw in my 2 cents, too.
What is a beautiful mindset?
A beautiful mindset is a mindset focused on beauty.
Beauty comes from your heart. From the gratitude you feel for the privilege of being alive, as Geiger says.
It includes attention to all the awesome, good things in your life. And appreciation for your blessings.
But also, a beautiful mindset notices and enjoys the littlest, tiniest details of life.
What are some examples?
Examples of a beautiful mindset include:
- Appreciation for the beauty of the swirling steam from your coffee cup.
- Enjoyment of the rustling sound of leaves in the wind
- Love for the marvelous feel of the sun on your skin.
- The heartfelt connection from someone’s smile, or a happy dog wagging its tail.
- The thrilling sound of motorcycles or drums.
It really depends on your perception. What do you find worthy of noticing and enjoying? Is your enjoyment limited to or based on having certain things, or can it be expanded?
Beauty is everywhere
Beauty is all around us.
It’s there in the grit and dirt and peeling paint. It swirls in gray skies just as it shines in every sunbeam.
Beauty cannot be eliminated by heartache, poverty, or suffering. It persists, unstoppable.
You don’t have to be religious to see the awesomeness of God everywhere. You don’t have to be spiritual to see beauty all around you. You just have to open your eyes wider.
How to pay more attention to beauty
One way to get into the habit of noticing all the beauty around you is to journal daily. Keep a running list of what you see, feel, taste, smell, and otherwise perceive.
Record and share the beauty you see online, and in-person with friends and family.
Put beautiful ideas in your phone notes, and take pictures of beauty. Sketch beauty in a notebook. Cook a beautiful meal and eat it.
Express beauty with your actions. Use good manners and integrity. Immerse yourself in beauty and make it your focus daily.
You can also use a mantra to experience more beauty. Chose a few beautiful, good-feeling words to think about often.
- I am blessed.
- Love is all around me.
- God is good.
- I am strong.
How does a beautiful mindset create a beautiful day?
You can cultivate your mindset like a garden. You can choose the seeds to plant.
Hardships will continue to exist. But your mindset is something you can do something about.
Thoughts create emotions. So think about beauty to feel uplifted.
Emotions create thoughts also, so give attention to beautiful things that create pleasant emotions.
Mindset and emotions both guide actions. Those actions create physical reality and manifest the future.
A beautiful mindset is badass
A beautiful mindset is an act of rebellion in a world of hardship.
A beautiful mindset is punk rock. It says F U to forces trying to lower your vibration.
It’s not easy to have a beautiful mindset, but it’s a worthy goal to have. Why should suffering steal your focus? Why should pain or injustice? No. Resist and manifest more beauty instead.
A focus on beauty requires dedication, persistence, and practice. But it helps you to manifest even more beauty into your life and makes your life happier. Your happiness makes the world a better place, too. There is always something marvelous and beautiful to focus on.
